Karad Pharmacy Student Federation

  1. Foundation
    The Silver Jubilee of the pharmacy department was celebrated in 1990. It was a grand celebration and ex-students of the college got the opportunity to gather together for the first time at Karad. All ex-students from FDA, the pharmaceuticals industries, pharmacy colleges, wholesalers and retailers met together for the first time and from their interaction and discussions, it was felt that there should be some platform where ex-students can meet frequently and can have continuous communication with each other. This idea gave rise to the foundation of Karad Pharmacy students' Federation (KPSF). There is one international pharmacy students federation named International Pharmacy Students' Federation and KPSF wishes to link to IPSF.
       
    KPSF was founded in 1993 and registered under assistant Registrar of society, Satara under registration no- MAH-3238 SATARA.

  2. Activities of KPSF
    a) Following have been conducted by KPSF
    b) The addresses and current information of the ex students were obtained from time to time and upto date computerized list was prepared for ready references.
    c) Get-together functions were organized in 1993, 1996 and 1999. Next get-together is scheduled in 2002.
    d) 'Pharma Utsav', under banner of KPSF, gives the way for students an opportunity of exposing the inherent, hidden qualities and talents in them. Many students from different pharmacy colleges participates in 'Pharma Utsav'. Two Pharma Utsav programs have been organized in year 1995 & 1998.

  3. Objectives of KPSF
    a) To promote interaction between ex-students.
    b) To promote interaction between ex-students and present students so that professional exposure can be achieved .
    c) To generate resources for strengthening KPSF.
    d) To establish alumni house at Karad.
    e) To render job counseling to existing students.
    f) To provide registration facilities of Maharashtra State Pharmacy Council.
    g) To provide financial assistance to needy students.
    h) To arrange lectures, seminars, symposia etc.
    i) To establish branches of the federation.
    j) To affiliate to International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation.

  4. KPSF Bulletin
    For the purpose of communicating each other and establishing strong bonds between the ex-students, the idea of KPSF bulletin came into existence.
      
    The first KPSF bulletin was published by Mr. Deodhar & Mr. Abhijit Kulkarni in Mar- Apr. 1996 at Thane and circulated between KPSF Mumbai zone and others.
     
    From year 2000 KPSF bulletin is being published from Govt. College of Pharmacy, Karad every three months and the copies are circulated amongst KPSF members.
     
    Bulletin includes :
    a) Editorial from president of KPSF.
    b) Achievements of a distinguished alumnus.
    c) Counseling information about diseases like diabetes, hypertension etc.
    d) Current Pharma news.
    e) News Blast.
    f) Health education
    g) Informative articles
    h) Special achievements by our ex-students.

Special Features

  • The college runs counseling for Diabetic Patients under the title "Madhumitra Mandal".
  • The college proposes to conduct AICTE short term courses.
  • The college has arranged Four Staff Development Programs & Four Continuing Education Programs.
  • The college has organised 3rd Annual National Convention of Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India. (APTI) during March 1998.
  • More than 2500 students passed out of portals of the college getting their degree. Ex-students of the college constituted Karad Pharmacy Students Federation ( KPSF ) which is registered body. The body has been arranging frequently get together of Ex-Students.
  • The College celebrated Silver Jubilee in the year 1990.
  • (ISTE) chapter run by the members of staff of the college & ISTE students chapter are also functioning in the college.
